The CanSLAM's ultimate goal is to build a database and to keep it available to industry, A.I. developers, students, and anyone else interested in mobile mapping or spatial information systems. However, each new course requires dozens of working hours, expensive high-precision equipment, costly targets, powerful computers, costly software, and hundreds of gigabytes of data storage capacity.

With your support, we can keep CanSLAM volunteers and our supporting institutions up-to-date and experienced with developments in a technology that promises rapid situational awareness for a myriad of operational applications.

It takes a great deal of resources to organize these events; Terrestrial LiDAR scanners, total stations, GNSS equipment, pogos, tripods, tribrachs, prisms, targets, scoring tools, drills, bits, pins, epoxy, nails, hammers, flagging... there is a lot of resources that go into creating control scenes and we rely greatly on our industry and educational supporters. Likewise, we are in need of equipment for recording these events (cameras, microphones, editing software) and powerful computers and extraction software licenses to perform the analysis as well as cloud storage capacity for terabytes of data, and cloud viewing platforms so that your own computer doesn't overload. Plus, we need enough of these resources to supply each participating district and enough online viewing seats for our audience. Likewise, the volunteers at the CanSLAM put in incredible amounts of effort into the success of this program with education and experience as their only reward... with your help, we change all this.
